Economic Profile: Tokologo Local Municipality

Ingle, M (2007), Economic Profile: Tokologo Local Municipality, Free State (An overview of Boshof, Dealesville and Hertzogville). Unpublished report for Premier’s Office, Free State Government. Centre for Development Support, University of the Free State, Bloemfontein.

Introduction

The sources from which this report is derived lead ultimately, either directly or indirectly, to Stats SA’s 1996 and 2001 census reports. The Development Bank of Southern Africa’s 2005 Development Report provided slightly more current data in some instances. The Tokologo and Lejweleputswa IDPs provided some information although it must be cautioned that these IDPs appear not to have been updated since 2003. Global Insight’s REX database provided much of the hard economic data while most of the socioeconomic data was drawn from the SA Demarcation Board’s website. Recourse was also had to the monthly Local Government Briefing produced by Clive Keagan.

Although much of the information is somewhat dated, it has been placed within the provincial context to show its comparative performance.
